On this Giving Tuesday, Boston College marks the start of Beacon Week, a multi-day celebration of those who have illuminated our paths to the Heights, to personal success, and beyond.
BC is asking two things of its community: to share who or what your Beacon is, and to make a gift in honor of that person, moment, or experience.
Trustee D. Scott Brown '79, and Tracy Brown '80, P'08, '11 are upping the stakes by way of a simple challenge: If the BC community comes together to make 500 gifts by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, December 4, they will donate $50,000 to support financial aid.

Professors. Classmates. Roommates. Mentors. Our spirit of service. The dining staff. These are just some of the many people and experiences that have left a mark on our community over the years.
To say thank you to their Beacons, 1,206 donors came together to unlock $100,000 in funds for student financial aid, generously contributed by our challenge donors Trustee D. Scott Brown '79 and Tracy Brown '80, P'08, '11.
Overall, supporters raised $433,578 for BC during Beacon Week. We are so grateful to have such a dedicated community!

As we near the end of Beacon Week, it's been heartwarming to read about the people, moments, and experiences that have impacted the Boston College community over the years.
We are thrilled to share that due to an overwhelming response from Eagles everywhere, our challenge donors are doubling their commitment!
If another 500 donors make a gift—of any amount—our challenge donors Trustee D. Scott Brown '79 and Tracy Brown '80, P'08, '11 will contribute an additional $50,000, for a total commitment of $100,000 to financial aid! BC and its students are counting on you to help double the Browns' commitment.
