What is BC's May Match Challenge?

BC's May Match Challenge will run from May 1-13. Give back to your favorite Boston College school, department, club or team and your gift will be matched 100% with a gift to financial aid. Up to $100,000 will be matched thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor!

Is there a gift minimum or maximum to participate in the May Match Challenge?

Although you are welcome to make a gift of any size, the minimum to make a gift online is $5 and only the first $2,500 of your gift will be matched towards financial aid. Gifts made between May 1 and May 13 will be matched by a generous donor for up to a total $100,000 towards financial aid.

Do I have to make my gift to a specific designation to participate? 

No, you can donate to any area of the University you wish to support. **Please note: the matched funds will go toward financial aid, and not the specified designation of the initial gift.** 

Do I get donor credit for the matching amount?

Although your support will have double the impact, you will receive credit only for the amount of your gift.

I am currently in a pledge; does my gift qualify to be matched? 

Yes, your gift by May 13 will count toward the match! 

Can I send my gift in via the mail? 

The May Match Challenge is a time limited giving campaign; we strongly encourage you to make your gift online at bc.edu/maymatch. However, if your check is received by May 13 with "BC May Match" in the memo, it will also qualify for a match (up to $100,000). Let our team know at bcfund@bc.edu, so we can make sure to count your support as part of this challenge.

Can I make a gift with stocks or securities for the May Match Challenge?

Yes! Please call (617) 552-3440 or email uagifts@bc.edu to let our team know so we can count your gift, mention “May Match Challenge”.

Can I make a gift through a donor-advised fund? 

Yes, to make a distribution to BC through your donor-advised fund, please contact your financial institution and include “May Match Challenge” along with your gift designation. Let our team know at bcfund@bc.edu so we can count your support as part of this challenge.

I already made a gift earlier this year. Will that count?

Thank you for supporting BC this year! For this challenge we are counting gifts made between May 1 and May 13. If you would like to support the challenge we encourage you to make an additional token gift at bc.edu/maymatch through May 13.
