Boston College Prison Education Program

Boston College’s Prison Education Program began in fall 2019 at MCI Shirley, a medium security men’s prison. Students in the program undertake a challenging and fulfilling curriculum taught by Boston College faculty while incarcerated, and will leave prison with the depth of knowledge and ambition necessary to build careers and thrive. The program has enrolled three cohorts of students engaged in a full-time course of study in the liberal arts and sciences. The program exemplifies the character and values of Boston College, is dedicated to the University’s principle of cura personalis, and seeks to develop students’ whole-person formation.
